PET BOARDING SERVICES

Scott County Animal Hospital has both cages and runs for boarding your pets.  We also have an outdoor fenced yard where animals are walked twice daily. Additional walks outside or playtime are available on request.

Our experienced kennel staff monitor boarding animals for any sign of problems during their stay.  Problems are immediately brought to the attention of the staff veterinarians.  We also offer boarding for animals with special medical conditions, such as diabetes, which require special care and frequent drug administration.

We care for your pets as if they were our own.

All animals boarding at Scott County Animal Hospital must meet the following requirements
  1. current on the following vaccinations:
    • cats - FVRCP, Rabies
    • dogs - DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies
  2. free of external parasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites
  3. negative fecal exam within the last 6 months and currently free of internal parasites
  4. free of all contagious diseases
  5. has not bitten a human within the last 10 days
** Pets deficient in any of the above stated requirements must be made compliant at owner's expense in order for boarding to occur.

If your pet does not receive its routine medical care at our clinic, we will require proof of the above from your veterinary clinic.

A full day's board is charged for the first and last days, regardless of the time pet is admitted or released.

Personal Items
While you may want to bring your pet's own "stuff" from home, we do not recommend bringing a lot of things to boarding.  We have ample bowls, cage pads, blankets, and towels - we do not recommend bringing these with you.  Toys are also not necessary for boarding, unless your pet has a particular attachment to one.  Dogs and cats behave differently while boarding than at home, and a dog that is perfectly fine at home may chew blankets or toys up while boarding.  We would prefer that they damage OUR blankets, not yours!
Personal items may be left at your own risk. We are not responsible for lost or damaged items.

Of course, if your pet has a special diet or is taking medications, be sure to bring enough of these to last for the whole time boarding.  You are more than welcome to bring your own food and treats for your pet.  Our staff will get the instructions from you when you check in your pet for boarding.  Having pre-packaged meals or written instructions for medications and treats is very helpful for our veterinarians and kennel staff so they can make your pet's stay as much like home as possible.

Dismissal Times

Special dismissal times are available for pick-up of pets on the weekends when the clinic is closed.  No pets can be checked in at these times, as only the kennel staff are present to dismiss animals.  The kennel staff cannot answer questions about any medical care that the pets received while boarding.  Click here for hours and dismissal times.
